I find AARP to be a good source of information each month.  This one caught my eye. Here are a few of the suggestions.

Send less down the drain, with low volume shower heads and turning off the running faucets while doing chore or brushing your teeth.  Split the pills, have your doctor prescribe a larger dose that can be cut in half.  Put the work in workout by mowing your own lawn, cleaning the house and grooming your dogs. No need to join a gym and think of the savings in $$.  Get loyalty discounts from various restaurants. Clean with vinegar and salt they are non-toxic and will so on cleaning product expense. Ask for the “over 50″ discounts.
