Cedar City Utah Winter Weather

14 January, 2009 (08:14) | Cedar City Living

The winters in Cedar City Utah are very mild and moderate. On average the snow will melt in town and does stay in the surrounding mountains for snowmobiling, skiing and other winter activities.  Winters are not typically of long duration, and a short drive southI am asked “how are our winters”.

I guess it’s all relevant being a 12 year transplant from 35 years plus  in Jackson Wyoming. I find the winters in Cedar City to be a piece of cake! Seriously though we do have snow storms which  makes it very nice for all types of winter recreational activities and a white Christmas. Cedar City is a great place to go snowmobiling, skiing, and snowboarding with Brianhead Ski Resort very close.

If you want to get out of the snow for a short time you simply drive 50 minutes South to St. George where you can enjoy many warm activities in the winter like Golf, hiking, and biking.

We chose Cedar City Utah because we like the four seasons and did not find the typical above 100 temperature of St. George to be something that we liked for the summer months. Cedar City is perfect for those who wish to live in a place that has all 4 seasons with winter being an enjoyable season and not a long cold season like Jackson, Wyoming.
